From the President-Elect

“Women business owners in our region should be measurably better off because they were part of this organization.”

I'm Babiya Polk, and in my upcoming term as President of NAWBO Columbus, I'm committing to something specific.

That isn't a slogan. It's the test I'll use for every decision this year. Programs that produce member value continue. Programs that don't, get redesigned or retired. Partnerships that open doors deepen. Partnerships that don't, end.

What follows is a working answer to one question — what does it look like to lead this chapter so that a year from now, women business owners across our region are demonstrably better off?

Three Commitments

For the year ahead

01

Access through collaboration

Leadership should open doors, not guard them. The relationships, partnerships, and introductions our members need will be the ones we work the hardest to build.

02

Economic empowerment that's measurable

Contracts won. Capital accessed. Certifications earned. Revenue grown. We will track what actually moves women-owned businesses forward — and report on it honestly.

03

Inclusion by design, not by accident

Women of color, veterans, LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs, emerging businesses, and next-generation leaders will be intentionally included. Intentional is the operative word.
